Aksara (also akshara, Devanagari अकà¥à¤·à¤°, IAST aká¹£ara) is a Sanskrit term translating to "imperishable, indestructible, fixed, immutable" (i.e. from a- "not" and ká¹£ar- "melt away, perish"). It has two main fields of application, in Sanskrit grammatical tradition (Å›iká¹£Ä) and in Vedanta philosophy.
