Ashlesha (Sanskrit: आशà¥à¤²à¥‡à¤·à¤¾ or Āśleá¹£Ä) is the 9th of the 27 nakshatras in Hindu astrology. Ashlesha is also known as the Clinging Star or NÄga. It is known as the Hydra. It extends from 16:40 to 30:00 Cancri. The planetary lord is Mercury or Budha.
Means "infinite, endless" in Sanskrit. This is a transcription of both the masculine form अननà¥à¤¤ / अनंत (an epithet of the Hindu god Vishnu) and the feminine form अननà¥à¤¤à¤¾ / अनंता (an epithet of the goddess Parvati).
Joshi is also sometimes spelled as Jyoshi. The name is popularly derived from the Sanskrit word Jyotisha (Sanskrit: जà¥à¤¯à¥‹à¤¤à¤¿à¤·, IAST: Jyotiá¹£a), referring to Vedic Astrology and astronomy; in turn, Jyotisha is derived from Jyotish ("light bringer or reflect light like sun").
