Shishupala (Sanskrit: शिशà¥à¤ªà¤¾à¤², lit. protector of child, IAST: ÅšiÅ›upÄla; sometimes spelt Sisupala) was the son of Damaghosha, king of Chedi, by Srutashrava, sister of Vasudeva. He was slain by Krishna at the great sacrifice of Yudhishthira in punishment of opprobrious abuse. He was also called Chaidya.
