Simran (Punjabi: ਸਿਮਰਨ, Hindi: सिमरण, सिमरन ) is a Punjabi word derived from the Sanskrit word सà¥à¤®à¤°à¤£ (smaraṇa, "the act of remembrance, reminiscence, and recollection") which leads to the realization of what may be the highest aspect and purpose in one's life.
Means "princess", ultimately from Sanskrit कà¥à¤®à¤¾à¤°à¥€ (kumari) meaning "girl". This surname was assigned to all female Sikhs in 1699 by Guru Gobind Singh. It is now used as a surname or a middle name by most female Sikhs. The male equivalent is Singh.
